TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES PROPOSAL SECTION 1: RACE CLASSES AND CLASS RULES 1.1. Race Classes - The following race classes will make up the Triple Crown R/C Challenge. A minimum of (TBD) entries will be needed to race a particular class. 2 Wheel Modified Buggy (2WD MOD) 4 Wheel Modified Buggy (4WD MOD) 2 Wheel Stock Buggy (2WD 17.5) 40 and over 2 Wheel Stock Buggy (40 and over 2WD 17.5) 4 Wheel Super Stock Buggy (4wd 13.5) 2 Wheel Modified Stadium Truck (ST Mod) 2 Wheel Modified Short Course Truck (SC Mod) Novice 1.2. Class Rules - The race classes will follow the ROAR rules for their respective classes. For the 2WD 17.5 the idea is to have a handout and hand back motor. The motors will be selected by random drawing. After the race event the stock motors will be return for the following event. The Novice class will be for 13 years or younger racers and will beopen to any 10th scale electric vehicle. To help enforce the rules in the 2WD 17.5 class, racers will have indentifying flags at their pit tables. SECTION 2: POINTS SYSTEM, TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL 2.1 Team Championship - The main feature of the Triple Crown Challenge is a team based point series to find which state has the best drivers overall. 2.1.1 Team point system Points are awarded based on the racers finishing position in their main. The amount to be awarded for a first place finish in any main is determined by the number of racers in the A main. For example if the A main has 10 racers each first place counts for 10 points in the A, B and C mains. If the A main has 8 racers first place is awarded 8 points for each main. For the other finishing positions subtract one point from the position above it. The top 25 finishers will score team points. No team points will be awarded in the Novice class. The team with the most points after the 4 rounds wins the championship. Tie breakers are as follows: first tie breaker, team with the most main wins, and second tie breaker team with the highest point total at the final round. 2.1.2 Team Championship Trophy The team that wins the Triple Crown Challenge will have ownership of the championship trophy for 1 year. This time period of 1 year is from the final of the current year till the final of the next year championship. 2.2 Individual Championship - There will also be individual class champion titles for each of the classes run in this series. Points will be tracked for each race and be totaled up after the final race. 2.2.1 Individual point system The driver with the highest total points wins the class. The amount of points to be awarded will be calculated by the total number of entries for each class. For example if there are 33 racers in the 4WD MOD class the winner of that class will be awarded 33 points for that round. At each round the podium finishers will receive plaques. The overall top finishers will be awarded trophies after the 4 th SECTION 3: RACE FORMAT For the race format the thought is to have all rounds follow the same format. For example like having the same start time for qualifying and mains day. There will be 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday. Triple A mains will be 5 minutes each and all lower mains will be 7 minutes. To keep things moving the idea is to have only a 1 and a half lap warm up per race. The goal should be to have the event to end by 3PM Sunday.
